Hey there RonHad,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to share a playlist with your friend, and we'd be happy to provide you with the best steps.
When you navigate to Library > Playlists and tap on the playlist you want to share, then tap the ... button at the top-right corner, a pop-up window should appear from the bottom of the screen. Try swiping up on that window to uncover more options in that window. If you don't see Share, try tapping Edit Actions at the very bottom of that window. From there, try adding Share to your Favorites by tapping the green + symbol next to the word Share, and hit Done. Are you able to then share that playlist without an issue?
If not, does the Share option fail to show up for any and all playlist you attempt to share, or just certain playlists?
If you try sharing your Apple Music playlist to one of these apps [if you have any installed], does it share without issue?: How to share music to Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device
If you have your Apple Music Profile setup, are the friends that are following you, able to see the playlists without issue? See what friends are listening to in Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device
Take care.

Chris,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. The Share option is not there, scrolling down or in Edit Actions. I also tried it using multiple playlists.
Does it matter whether the playlist is made of Apple downloads or my own downloads from CDs I used to own?

RonHad,
Thanks for providing those additional details. Going forward, it is possible that a playlist that includes imported or downloaded music from CDs may not be shareable, as the particular songs may not be available in the Apple Music library.
If you create a playlist using just songs from the Apple Music library and not imported/downloaded songs, does the issue persist?
We look forward to hearing back from you.
Have a great day!

Question: Q: Share Option Doen't Show - Apple Music Playlist - iPhone 12
Support Communities / Music / Music on iOS
Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.
I created a playlist in Apple Music on my iPhone and am unable to share with another iPhone user. My cellular data is on. When I tap the pink ellipse button where the "share" option would be, it isn't there. My only options when clicking on that button are remove, add to playlist, and play next. I am not an Apple Music member, does that matter? Any help is appreciated, thank you!!

Go to settings>music and turn on the iCloud music library. That will enable you to share playlists directly from the Music App.

Hi I'm having the exact same issue however I am an Apple Music subscriber. Do you have any suggestions?

They do not necessarily contradict each other. I am experiencing the exact same issue. The first "Apple Music" would be referring to the "Music" APP itself [at least for me]. The second would be the paid membership to "Apple Music" which I also do not subscribe to.
All instructions I've found for sharing a playlist with another user is to:
- Open the "Music" app
- Go to "Playlists"
- Go to the playlist you want to share
- Tap on the elipsis [red circle with three dots in it]
- Tap on "Share"...
That step 5 is completely missing from all of my playlists. They are not "smart" playlists, just normal playlists. I have some created in iTunes on my computer and synced to my iPhone. I have others that I created on the iPhone itself by adding music that is only on my iPhone.
The only options I see from the elipsis are:
- Remove
- Add to a Playlist...
- Play Next
- Love
- Dislike
Are you saying it is only possible to share a playlist if you are an Apple Music subscriber?

They are not the same thing at all.
The app on an iPhone that plays music is simply called Music or the Music app. The paid subscription service that allows access to the Apple music catalog is called Apple Music.
The Music app can play music from an iTunes purchase, from your historical CD library on a PC/Mac or if you subscribe, Apple Music. Or any combination thereof.
Are you saying it is only possible to share a playlist if you are an Apple Music subscriber?
Yes.
This would be be why you are not seeing the option. Google the phrase "apple share playlist" and every hit will reference Apple Music.

contradicts this.
If you created a playlist using the "Music" app and are not a paid subscriber to "Apple Music", then that makes sense.
They are 2 separate things and would be why you can't share your playlist.
