A very big Thank You to Ben for helping me get the bike i really wanted. I traded my bike at a very high trade in price with them compared to other bike shops. Very transparent with the payment and trade in breakdowns. i ride off my new bike with zero worries and bundle of happiness. I definitely recommend this shop to purchase or trade in. Thank you Ben and DC Motors for the great experience.

Deal with DC motor, Benedict. Fast transaction though. Easy going guy. Informative person. Fast replies. And more importantly, you wont feel left out if you’re at DC motor and talking to him. Purchased my CB400X from them was not a regret. Thanks man!

All new 2023 BMW R 1300 GSare nothing new, but for a long time the rumor mill simmered as to whether the travel enduro would already be available in 2023. Now a new example has rolled in front of the lens.

When BMW founded its motorcycle brand with the R32 in 1923 and at the same time its tradition of motorcycles with boxer engines, only a few suspected that a century later a model of this type would be the most successful large motorcycle in the world: the GS. And just in time for the hundredth anniversary of the brand and more than 40 years after the premiere of the R80 G/S, the latest evolutionary stage of the Bavarian travel enduro makes its debut in 2023. This is currently being developed in Munich under the abbreviation KA1 and pictures of a prototype that is still partially veiled but ready for series production already suggest that it will do some things differently than its predecessors.

A completely newly developed boxer engine is used

The engine in particular catches the eye, because this is not a modified version of the current drive, but has apparently been completely redeveloped. It will continue to be equipped with the meanwhile tried and tested variable valve control, the name "Shift Cam" of which is already announced on the valve cover of the pre-production motorcycle. But unlike the engine of the current model, which is only partially water-cooled and instead still mainly air-cooled, the R1300 GS  will be completely liquid-cooled in the future.

Noise emissions in particular, but also the prospect of future emission standards, are likely to have caused this new development. In addition to displacement, both torque and top performance are likely to increase again in the new model generation. Exactly how much is still speculation, but a value around 150 hp would not come as a surprise.

BMW R 1300 GS with less weight thanks to the new frame

Much more surprising, however, is that the drive is now integrated as a supporting part in a cast aluminum frame, the mounting points of the frame on the engine are clearly visible. How the construction looks in detail cannot yet be made out under the tarpaulin, but it will certainly result in a lower overall weight than before. Exactly how much less is speculation so far, but the 243kg total weight of the Ducati Multistrada V4, and thus 6kg less than before, should represent a realistic target.

Design and equipment as a big question mark

Unfortunately, the design is still hidden under the tarpaulin that BMW uses to protect it from photographers. And so the exact shape of the fairing, the tank, the rear frame or the seat is unfortunately not yet recognizable. But it seems obvious that, at least on this prototype, active aerodynamic parts, such as BMW had patented for large duros in spring 2022, are still a long way off. However, the characteristic duckbill seems to be preserved as well as the telelever. Technical goodies such as cornering lights, distance radar and the latest generation of BMW infotainment will also be used.

The different versions of the BMW R 1300 GS

These elements will certainly be shared by all three models of the GS family: namely the 2023 BMW R 1300 GS  pictured here, which will be introduced over the coming year. The R1400 GS will follow a little later, which will be the top model of the family with a little more displacement, torque and top performance and will thus replace the 2023 BMW R 1300 GS  Adventure. Additionally, we're also expecting an M1300 GS, which similar to its main competitor, The 1290 Super Adventure R from KTM, will be recognizable by its 21-inch front wheel with chunky tires and resulting off-road focus. However, the latter two models will probably only be ready for the market later, 2024 seems realistic.

What does GS stands for in BMW?

The GS refers to either Gelände/Straße [German: off-road/road] or Gelände Sport. GS motorcycles can be distinguished from other BMW models by their longer travel suspension, an upright riding position, and larger front wheels – typically 19 to 21 inch. In May 2009, the 500,000th GS was produced, an R1200GS model.

Which year of BMW GS is the best?

Although there were a few early issues with reliability, BMW quickly sorted these out and now there is little to fear when it comes to buying second hand. As a general rule the later model the better as the 2006-onwards machines are more reliable and the twin cam 2010 models the best of the bunch.

How fast is a BMW GS?

Top speed of BMW R 1250 GS is 200 kmph .
