I am a Registered Nurse [RN] and Certified Tumor Registrar [CTR] who has been working from home for years! After offering advice for finding remote nursing jobs on dozens of Facebook groups, I decided to create The Remote Nurse to help Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants find these jobs, too!
I started off my career as a Pediatric Special Needs Care Coordinator for a government insurance program. Then, I became a Pediatric Oncology Clinical Research Coordinator. This is where I first discovered that I could potentially work from home doing some sort of chart review for oncology research [but I literally had NO idea what this entailed].
I started searching online and found a variety of remote nursing options! Eventually, I landed my first remote position as a seasonal HEDIS Data Abstractor, and soon after that, a full time remote job as an Oncology Data Abstractor! Since that time, I have also worked remotely as a Quality Control Reviewer and User Interface Liaison.
Side note: I also helped my husband [a Family Nurse Practitioner & Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner] find 3 remote Nurse Practitioner roles in Telemedicine, Chart Review, and Educational Writing!
