This post will show the steps to request a desktop version on Android and iOS [iPhone]. Lets get started.

How to request desktop version on an Android device

Chrome app

Open Google Chrome for Android.

Tap those three vertical dots at the top and activate the Desktop site.

Now enter your preferred site URL [URL of the desktop version] and press Enter on your keyboard.

Edge app

Open Edge.

Tap the button with the three horizontal dots below.

Hit Desktop site.

Now enter the preferred site URL [URL of the desktop version] and click Enter on your keyboard.

Firefox app

Open Mozilla Firefox for Android.

Go to the site you want.

Tap the three vertical dots at the bottom and enable the Desktop site.

Notes:

For Edge and Chrome: Use the desktop version of the URL. For example, use facebook.com for Facebook and not m.facebook.com.

For Firefox: You must provide the Facebook desktop version URL after following the steps above in the Firefox section.

For the desktop version of Gmail

If you are a Firefox user, follow the steps above and then follow these steps:

Tap the three horizontal lines at the top left.

Click on the Desktop link.

You can see the desktop version [basic HTML view] of Gmail.

For the standard view, hit the standard link below.

If you are a Chrome app user, then follow the steps below:

Go to Gmail and sign in.

Now tap the three vertical lines at the top and press the Desktop link at the bottom.

You can now see the desktop version [basic HTML view] of Gmail.

If you want the standard view, request the desktop site [using the steps above], scroll down, and click on the standard link.

Thats it.

For Edge: Follow the steps in the Edge section, and youll see the standard view.

How to request desktop version on an iPhone

Safari

You can do this using the request desktop website feature in Safari. Lets look at it.

Open Safari.

Go to the desired website.

Press the icon on the left of the address bar.

You will now see the Request Desktop Website option. Tap on it.

Thats it.

For the desktop version of Gmail

Log into your Gmail account in Safari. Request the desktop site using the steps above.

Tap the three vertical lines at the top left.

Click on the Desktop link below.

You can now see the basic HTML view.

If you want to find the desktop version [standard view] of Gmail, tap the standard link at the bottom.

Automatically request the desktop version

You can set up Safari to automatically request the desktop version of the site every time you visit it.

Heres how you can do that:

Open Safari.

Visit the website for which you would prefer to do this.

Press the icon on the left of the address bar.

Hit Website Settings.

Enable Request Desktop Website.

Tap Done at the top right.

Request desktop version for all websites

Safari also can request the desktop version for all sites.

You need to enable this option, and heres how you can do that:

Open Settings.

Tap Safari.

In the Settings for Websites section, you see the Request Desktop Website. Hit it.

Enable All Websites.

Notes:

  • Facebook does not open in the desktop version, even after completing the above steps. So, visit this website with its desktop version URL, and you will be able to see the Facebook desktop version.
  • The above steps load Gmail in its desktop version [Standard view].
  • This does not work for all websites.
  • If you do not want this, then disable All Websites.

Chrome for iPhone

Open Chrome for iPhone.

Enter your preferred website URL in the address bar and press the go button on your keyboard.

Click on the three horizontal dots at the bottom. On the menu, tap the Request Desktop Site option.

Note: This one doesnt work for all websites. For example Twitter.
