Many iPhone users have experienced the frustration at one time or another; you open up a song in YouTube and then minimize the app to check a text, or do anything else. The song shuts off. ADVERTISEMENT Now, a reporter in India has figured out a way to work around this, allowing an iPhone user to listen to songs on YouTube while using other apps. But, the hack only works in the web browser, so trying it with the YouTube app will still result in a paused song. Scroll down for video PLAY YOUTUBE IN BACKGROUND1 - Go to YouTube.com, and play the song. Then, minimize it. 2 - The song will pause, but opening up the control centre by swiping up from the bottom of the screen will pull up the audio player. 3 - Press play, and the YouTube song will run in the background while you use other apps. This can only be done using the browser. Trying it with the app will still close out the song when it is minimized, and it won't play through the control centre. The trick was revealed by Buzzfeeds Andre Borges. First, open Safari and type out YouTube.com. Bypass the request to open it in the app, and continue to the website. Find the song youre looking for, and start playing it. Then, minimize the screen. This will pause the song, as usual, but swiping up from the bottom of your screen to pull open the control centre will bring it up in the audio player. Then just press play, and the YouTube song will play in the background while you do other tasks. Click here to resize this module According to Borges, the technique also works for iPads. While some savvy users may have figured out this trick on their own, many iPhone owners continue to be frustrated by YouTubes inability to allow multi-tasking. With this trick, anyone can easily skirt around the problem. The video was posted to YouTube by a user called videosdebarraquito. In the post, he is shown pressing and holding down an icon for a pre-installed Apple app on his homescreen. These include Pages, Numbers, Stocks, Calendar, Weather and more. After repeating this process a third time, he drags the app to the far right of the folder on the third page, and while keeping hold of the app with his finger, he press the home button. This causes the app to disappear. However, as he explains, the apps aren't entirely removed from the phone, instead they are simply hidden from view until the phone is restarted. As a result, they still take up storage space, but this trick will at least make the homescreen look less cluttered.
