    Hi,

I'm trying to install RDS in aSession-based deployment, but this option is greyed out. I'm trying to setup a pilot server as RDS in Server 2012 is fairly new to us.

I start the RDS role installation the usual way:
    -Add role or feature
    -RDS install
-Select the existing connection broker in our organization. This was previously setup by a colleague and I can't vouch for it
    -Choose Standard deployment....
and now the only choice I have is the virtual machine-based deployment.

When I try via. Powershell, I get the following:
    New-SessionDeployment -ConnectionBroker adfs01.company.com -SessionHost corpsched02.company.com
    New-SessionDeployment : A session-based desktop deployment is already present.
    At line:1 char:1
    + New-SessionDeployment -ConnectionBroker adfs01.company.com -SessionHost co ...
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: [:] [Write-Error], WriteErrorException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.WriteErrorException,New-SessionDeployment

    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,

Does the broker already have a session-based deployment on it? From the error text it appears that it does. If yes, then it will not allow you to add a new session deployment.

If you want you could delete the collections and then remove all of the RDSH and other servers from the existing deployment, uninstall RD Connection Broker, and other RDS Role Services that are on the broker if needed/desired, and then create new deployment from scratch.

Please note that you will lose all of the existing RDS deployment information, collection properties, published RemoteApps, etc.,if you redo the deployment from scratch.

    Thanks.

I found a way to do it.

    1. Disable the NIC before starting the wizard.

    2. Configure the Quick Config settings and choose Session-Based RDS, click on next.

    3. On the server selection screen, enable the NIC again, continue the steps and let server reboot.

Hope this works for you too.

    Kind Regards Jaco Smit
