Missha m magic cushion moisture review

“Magic cushion sponge for a quick & easy make up application! Light weight adherence, buildable coverage, moisturizing, and sun protection benefits with SPF 50+ PA +++” That is the most vague description from Missha US site, so I’ll include a picture of the box just in case for those who can read Hangul.

Amount of product: 15 g in one refill

Refill included?: Yes. when it first came out, there was a promotion where they included the compact which already has a refill inside and two others. Now they have changed it and it is only one compact with refill inside it already, 1 other refill sealed and an extra air puff with Sally’s design on it.

Price: 11,600 won [$10 ish USD]

Sunscreen: SPF 50+ PA+++

Duration before expiration: Unknown

Country of Manufacture: Made in Korea Manufactured by ABLE C&C CO., Ltd

Where to buy: Amazon Jolse Yesstyle

Shades available:

There is only two shades,

21 and

23. Like typical Korean shade ranges of only two shades,

21 is usually lighter with a pink undertone while

23 is a yellow undertone and slightly darker. I usually like to choose

23 for a more natural look that blends into my Mac NC25 skintone.

Product packaging: Let’s talk packaging. I know all of you guys are waiting this BB cushion just because the packaging is cute as sh*t. I ain’t gonna lie as well, I bought it because the bright yellow chicken compact is stupidly adorable.

On the side, it states that the version I got is the moisture version. I think it is kind of unnecessary and ruins the cute design but it doesn’t bother me that much. Just like any other BB cushion, you open the compact by pressing the button on the side and the lid will pop up.
Inside is the super adorable air puff that actually has Sally’s design all over it and it is bright yellow. You can actually buy a pack of the air puffs itself for 6,000 won. Kind of overpriced but people still buy them haha. Of course there is also a mirror which comes in handy.

So cute! [ノ*゜▽゜*]

Pop open the compact lid and there is the BB cushion itself. When you first get the BB cushion, they always have this little seal to ensure that this product is new and never been opened.

How to use: If you have never used a BB cushion before, it is super simple. All you have to do is take the flat sponge called the “air puff” and place it through two or three fingers to secure it. Then lightly press the air puff into the cushion which is soaked with the BB cream. BB cushions are slightly different from BB creams, think slightly watered down BB creams that is soaked into a big sponge for easy application. Once you have got the product onto the air puff, stamp it into your face and continue until you feel like you have enough coverage.

Color/ Pigmentation: Since Missha and A’pieu are both under the same company, I thought I would also include swatches of my A’pieu Air fit cushion which is pretty much the exact same product, color wise and formula wise. I personally bought shade

23 because I knew from experience that shade

21 was way too light and had a strong pink undertone. If you like the brightening look, shade

21 would be for you but I prefer

23 for the not so obnoxious vampire look.

Inside the refill, it looks super dark but rest assure, it blends into my Mac NC25 skintone perfectly. I just pray I don’t get tan during the Summer time since I wouldn’t want my BB cushions to go to waste. Then again, I don’t ever go out to tan or even go to the beach so I should be fine? I say in the most hopeful tone…

From the picture, you can see the Line friends and my older Betty Boop collaboration from couple months back, they have the same color and formula so no changes there. Comparing the Missha shade

23 and A’pieu shade

23, in pictures it looks as though A’pieu is slightly lighter and slightly warmer undertone wise but blended out, they all look the same to the naked eye. A’pieu’s shade

21 I never use since it is way too light for my liking but it has a strong pink undertone. I could use it to do subtle highlighting but I don’t bother to be honest.

I’m not sure if

23 would work for anyone over Mac NC25. Anyone with NC30 would be pushing it, so if you are darker then that, I’m sorry but you are out of luck. That is the problem with Korean cosmetics, they never ever make enough shades to suit different skintones and is still stuck in the stone age, beauty standard wise. I get that the pale, healthy skin, don’t tan look is super in but a whole population can’t be just 2 shades. Like COME ON! Even me as a pale girl is pissed, imagine the rest of the nation and people overseas that want to buy your product. MISSHA GET IT TOGETHER. Korean brands, GET IT TOGETHER. UGH. There, I said it.

Texture/ Finish: When you first apply it to the skin, there is a very subtle dewiness which I absolutely love. I’m not sure if it was because I used the one that I have already opened from the Betty Boop compact, but Missha’s cushion set a lot faster then I remembered. A’pieu’s stays dewy at least 3 hours until it fully sets to a more satin finish, but Missha’s took about 4 minutes. So it really depends on your preference. If you like a more dewy finish, get the Sally one and if you are more of an oily skin type, get the bear one. Sorry I’m really not familiar with Line friends….

Coverage: This product has a light to medium coverage that is buildable. Word of advice, when you apply this BB cushion, don’t apply too much at once. I found it to apply slightly blotchy when I had too much product on the air puff, so do it in thin layers. For me, one layer is enough but you can definitely build it up with two layers for more coverage.

Lasting power: For me on my dry skin, this lasts a good 6 to 8 hours before fading ever so slightly on my cheeks and around my nose area. I don’t like to set my BB cushions since I like the dewiness it gives which also provides extra moisture. So 6 to 8 hours is quite good in my opinion, with no powder to ensure longevity.

Fragrance?: There is a slight soapy floral fragrance but goes away after application. Smell-o-scale: 4/10.

Demo timeee :P. The most fun part of the reviews for me, always!

Here is my bare face without an ounce of make up. And yes, I’m totally aware that my eye brows do not match my hair color HAHA. I really should look into eyebrow tinting. My strong brows isn’t something I can hide.

Skin concerns: -hydration for my dry skin -flakey dead dry skin -dark under eye circles from lack of sleep -slight redness around cheek, nose and chin

Things I look for in my base make up: -hydrating -dewy finish preferred -evens out redness around nose, cheek and chin -does not cling onto dry patches

Let’s start!
I usually like to start on the cheeks and work from there.

I shall also test this under the eyes to see if it is any good.

One side is done. Not too shabby. It toned down the redness, slightly neutralized my under eyes but I wouldn’t recommend using it under the eyes since it creases a lottttt. Just stick to your usual under eye concealer.

It looks quite nice from a distance.

Before….

Close up under florescent light, it can pick up any uneven textures you have. Under natural sun light, you won’t be able to detect much and looks super natural. I would not recommend this product if you were to use it for HD photography. For everyday natural use, yes!

Now both sides are done but I left my left under eye alone. Don’t like this BB cushion under the eyes. All it does is just accentuates my fine lines and it moves around too much for that area.

This cushion isn’t as dewy as I remembered. Either that or I’ve always remembered that A’pieu’s and Missha’s is exactly the same. Maybe not anymore.

With a full face of make up. Brows tinted, just mascara on the eyes with a little bit of a champagne shimmer [Memebox stick eyeshadow] in the inner corners, Pony effect’s contour, blush and highlight.

Not half bad. Not as dewy as I would like it to be but still not half bad.

The only problem I have is that if you don’t apply this in very thin layers, it can cling onto sone dry patches of skin if you don’t moisturize well.

Look closely around my nose area to see what I mean.

Also if you look very closely right between my eyebrows, you can see the formula settles in the cracks of dry skin. Not liking that [ ´△`].

Pro: -very affordable and comes with refill[s] -nice formula with two versions to suit different skin types -slightly dewy finish, sets to satin finish -shade

23 matches well with my NC25 skintone

Con: -if not careful with application, can settle into fine lines and dry patches

Repurchase?: Maybe…

Stars given out of 5: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall thoughts: I couldn’t give this a full 5 stars because of the one or two minor flaws. From my memory of this product, it was the exact same thing as my beloved A’pieu Air fit. However, revisiting this BB cushion has solidified that might not be the case. I still like my A’pieu one better for the sole fact that it stays dewy longer and doesn’t catch onto my dry patches but instead kind of glides over them. Overall I think this is a good product and I will continue to use it since I have 4 backs ups at this point. But when it comes time to repurchase, I’ll stick to A’pieu.
