Hey guys, I was looking around and saw this article: https://www.sportsoftheday.com/motogp-calendar-2023-the-overview/ According to this, COTA has not been confirmed for a race in 2023 and is not on the calendar yet. Does this mean that MotoGP will not race at COTA next year or has the track contract simply expired and has yet to be renewed for more races? level 1 Likely just still needs to be done. level 1 I wouldn't worry too much. Tracks like Portimao are on the same list as COTA but it's already been announced that will be the first race of the season. Probably just need finalising. level 2 Yeah, the two Italian tracks are on the lower list too level 1 They just don’t have a contract finalized. It ended last year and needs to be renewed. Pretty normal stuff but I don’t think it will go away. They want a race in North america and the only other grade 1 circuit is indy. Would be a surprise if it happens but I think cota is more likely. level 1 2022 was the final year of the original 10-year contract, so I suppose they're negotiating. Dorna doesn't even release their provisional calendar until usually sometime in October. level 1 It would obviously be way too dangerous, but a MotoGP race at the Daytona road course would be incredible, imagine the current bikes riding the banking! level 2 Michelin figuring out how to avoid another disaster level 1 Bring back Laguna. Or selfishly road America level 2 Road America would rule. But not going to happen. I asked the president of the track a few years ago, and there basically aren't enough hotel rooms in the area to meet Moto GP standards. :( level 2 Or Indianapolis, also selfishly, since it's just a couple hours away from me lol. level 2 Laguna is getting repaved soon, let’s hope it is laguna. Such a cool track. level 1 Wait until later in the season. Probably in its final stages level 1 Don’t know, but the crowd for this year was pretty awful. Less attendance than 2021. I moved to Austin with anticipation to attend races for the next decade or so and I would be big sad if that doesn’t happen. Also no Indycar. level 2 It made getting in and out of the circuit a lot easier than the F1 crowd had it ;) level 2 It couldve beeen due to the fact that motogp was their in october last year instead of aprill level 1 A lot of riders complained about the condition of the track the last couple of years, so maybe Dorna are waiting see if they fix it or not level 2 They did fix most of it. But they need to do more. level 1 They put up available tickets today. So I’m sure it’ll be at Cota.
