Prior to this engagement, I myself bought the Deebot OZMO 600 for my beloved uncle during the post-CNY sale at an amazing price [below S$300]. I have reviewed the ECOVACS Deebot 900 last year and remain impressed with the robot vacuum cleaner. Deebot OZMO Slim11 Launched in March 2019
If you are on a tight budget, you should check out the latest model, Deebot OZMO Slim 11. For this engagement, ECOVACS sponsored one unit for me. OZMO Technology
For consumers new to Deebot, OZMO refers to the technology that vacuums and mops the floor in one go. Hence, any Deebot model with “OZMO” name means it will support mopping function. The “Slim” series means the cleaner is so compact it can go under low furniture and clean hard-to-reach corners. The OZMO Slim11 is only 5.7cm in height, and can go underneath my sofa and my bed where it is impossible to reach using brooms or traditional vacuum cleaners.
Feel The Difference
On the first evening of deploying Deebot, when my mother-in-law stepped into the house, she could feel that the floor was clean without any sandy feeling. At that moment, I realised what a difference the OZMO Slim11 can make for all home owners. I always thought that the house would remain clean since no one was around during the day to make it dirty. Thanks to the scheduling function, I can program to start vacuum about 1 hour before we arrive home, so that we enjoy the fruits of Deebot’s labour.
Besides the “Auto” mode, the OZMO Slim11 supports “Edge” mode where it look for the wall edges to clean, and the “Spot” mode where it will go around specific area to clean over and over again.
Setting Up Deebot
Follow the ECOVACS HOME app to set up the Deebot OZMO Slim11. If your home is using a dual-band router or mesh Wi-Fi, you might receive a warning message that your smartphone must be connected to 2.4GHz during the setup. I have tried setting up over 5GHz and it seems to work. This is because the set-up process will configure the Wi-Fi name and password on the Deebot, so as long as they are the same for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, then Deebot will be able to connect to the home Wi-Fi. However, if your home is using different network names for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, then you should connect manually to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
If you are giving to an elderly family member without access to smartphone, the OZMO Slim11 can be operated over a remote control. But it is way cooler to operate from the smartphone. In fact, you can even operate the OZMO Slim11 outside the home over mobile data network. You can start or stop on demand, check the cleaning progress, change cleaning program, or summon it back to base. Alas, it is not as cool as Deebot 900 with mapping function where you can literally “see” where the cleaner is in the map.
Even cooler: you can ask Google Assistant or Alexa to start or stop the OZMO Slim11!
Clear Your Obstacles
Like all robot cleaners, one must ensure there are no loose items or cables lying around, or else the rotating side brushes will get entangled and the cleaner will stop cleaning until you manually untangle. I had the fortune to see first-hand at home OZMO Slim11 tried to free itself from obstacles: it will attempt a few manoeuvres for almost a minute before it gives up.
And every day, I find new ways that put a stop on OZMO Slim11 tracks. Just last night, I found that it could even attempt to hump over the chair legs.

I also found out that Deebot keeps getting stuck at one part of the sofa. Sadly, my L-shaped sofa is over 8 years old and a small stretch has sunken. The workaround is to place an obstacle, like a box, over the affected area.
Unlike the Deebot 900, there is no in-app notification pop-up when the OZMO Slim11 encounters operational error. However, the messages can be seen from the message section in the app when I open it.
On average, it takes about 80 minutes to clean 50 square metres, and has no problem navigating under the dining table with chair legs, or moving over bedroom door carpets. The OZMO Slim11 seems to be rather nimble as it moves around, its traveling speed varies depending on whether it detects crowded area [slows down] or an open floor space. It also tries to bump against the sides of the wall to make sure it gets as much dust at the edges.
Conclusion
I like having the Deebot OZMO Slim11 around my house. Just schedule it to run when no one’s around and your floor will be kept clean without anyone lifting a finger, though once a while you might find it getting challenged with obstacles. Maintenance is relatively low, just clear the dust bin regularly, give it a wipe down once every few weeks, and replace the consumables after 150 hours of usage [that’s about half a year worth if you vacuum an hour a day]. Talking about replacement parts, you can purchase all the ECOVACS parts at pretty reasonable prices from the Lazada store, which I feel is extremely important to ensure your robotic floor cleaner can last for years. The filter costs $6, the cleaning pad is S$6, the dustbin is S$10, the water tank is S$15. If you do choose to buy other brands, make sure their replacement units are easily purchased and cheap like ECOVACS.
With competition and falling prices, it’s a good time to get one and keep your home free of dust. The flagship Deebot OZMO 930 is an advanced piece of home tech with mapping functions, but if you just want clean floor, the Deebot OZMO Slim11 offers a balance of size and value.
