What’s the difference between attending some training and passing a certification exam?

I do believe the difference is the commitment, the extra effort, the willingness to spend the time and dedication. To show that goals can be set and achieved – independently of the situation, available resources, our age or where were we are on our careers.

Sometime ago a wrote a post about the ‘journey’ I started this year: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/veces-el-paseo-es-m%C3%A1s-importante-que-destino-adrian-vattuone/

One of the wonderful detours on this path has been finding the www.pythoninstitiue.org / www.openedg.org and their platform https://www.edube.org/

I was looking on improve my Python skills and that how I bumped into their Python certifications:

https://pythoninstitute.org/certification/pcep-certification-entry-level/

It is way more than the exams, it is a full training course and practice platform, contained inside a browser and at NO COST. I do want to highlight this effort of providing top-notch content, completely for free and no strings (not even ads) attached. I true labor of love it seems. Hats off to the whole team that put this together. The cost of $59 USD for the PCEP Entry Level seems very reasonable and they are still offering a 50% discount on the PCAP exam.

Another shoutout to Sameer Sathe, thanks for reaching out – my responses below. Please reach out again if there is anything else that I can do to contribute.

1.     What have you been able to achieve since using our product or service?

Applying the object-oriented methodology to automation projects is something that I’m applying today and will remain with e for the rest of my career. I started almost from scratch and after a couple of unsuccessful attempts of following other traditional video-based training platforms. I do appreciate the ‘build your own’ approach of the self-pace labs/exercises. It makes a difference.

2.     Is any of the knowledge and skills gained during our courses and exams useful in your current everyday work? If so, could you tell us what you found especially useful?

Yes. One of the aspects of the learning method of the platform that I found most useful is the exercises without actual included solutions. Just a few inputs and expected outputs – like at work and life. You must figure out what works and or why it doesn’t.

3.     What would you tell someone who's considering taking our courses and exams & Why?

Go for it, now. Don’t delay. Put aside a few hours a week. Set a date for the exam and pass it. Just that. The why is straight forward. It will show your colleagues, current (and future) employers that you are someone that can set goals and achieve them. On top of the actual skills you learn while at it. The certifications milestones will remain with you for the rest of your career.
