Lỗi this exceeds the maximum number of columns trên word năm 2024

I am very new to Power BI and have no programming background, which makes things a bit more complicated.

My issue: I have a leave report that have been working fine for months. Yesterday when I tried to update it, I got an error related to the limit of columns [...Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'The total number of columns in the model is 16414, which exceeds the limit of 16000].

Point is: I did not change anything in the data source. Everything is exactly the same, same number of columns and rows so I have no idea why I am getting this.

Then I decided to rename the sheets where the data is and to my surprise, it worked fine. Now I will have to redo the entire report, which is fine this time as is not too complicated, but I hate the fact that a] I dont know why my data didt upload until I changed the sheet name; b] I didnt know how to fix the issue; c] I had to redo the entire report.

If anyone could help me understand what happened and what I can do to prevent it from happening again that would be very much appreciated. Remember I am a novice with zero programming understanding. Note: I am working from home and the data is stored in Sharepoint.

Lưu ý Sự cố này xảy ra khi bạn sử dụng các Cột lệnh trên menu định dạng . Theo mặc định, khi bạn sử dụng cột trên các Định dạng menu tuỳ chọn bằng cột chiều rộng được đặt. Do đó, thông tin bố cục trang đúng đã thay đổi khi bạn thay đổi hướng hoặc kích cỡ trang.

Giải pháp

Để khắc phục sự cố này, đặt các cột một chiều rộng bằng:

1. Bấm OK để đóng thông báo lỗi.
2. Bấm vào huỷ để đóng hộp thoại Thiết đặt trang .
3. Trên menu công cụ định dạng , bấm Cột.
4. Bấm để chọn hộp kiểm bằng cột chiều rộngvà sau đó bấm OK.

Trạng thái

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods appropriate for your situation.

Method 1: Use the AutoFit Feature

Use this method if your table columns are set to a large preferred width, and change the table to autofit its contents. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click inside the table.
2. On the Table menu, point to Select, and then click Table.
3. On the Table menu, point to AutoFit, and then click AutoFit to Window.

The table is resized, and you can continue inserting columns up to a maximum of 63. If you attempt to insert more than 63 columns in your Word table, the following message appears:

This exceeds the maximum number of columns.

Method 2: Change the Preferred Width of Your Table Columns

Use this method if your table columns are set to a large preferred width, or if you have a large amount of text in your table columns. Change the width of your table columns to a smaller width. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click inside the first table cell of your Word table.
2. On the Table menu, point to Select and click Column. The first table column should be selected.
3. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
4. On the Column tab, change the Preferred width of the column appropriately, and then click Next Column.
5. Repeat step 4 for each column of your Word table until the table fits correctly within the margins of your Word page.

NOTE: You may need to repeat this method if you add additional columns to your Word table.

MORE INFORMATION

The AutoFit options and table properties available in Word 2000 can result in columns that automatically resize to fit their contents. The width of the columns varies, based on their contents, and may cause the table to reach the 22-inch width limit.

You may also encounter this error when you edit a mail merge data source and you use Manage Fields to add fields. When you create a mail merge data source in Word, the data is stored in a table.
