Resetting Interface CRC Error CountI have an Alienware 18 one month old laptop I also have two Samsung 840 EVO 1TB SSDs The first SSD shows an Interface CRC Error Count with a value of 76 in HD Tune. That number never changes so it means there is no current problem, maybe in my previous laptop where I had the SSD installed there was a problem. I searched on Google on how to reset the error count and got this link: http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_case_communication_error.php That made me purchase Hard Disk Sentinel just to reset that bugging error. I did set the value to -76 and waited for a while but upon checking HD Tune it still shows the same, how can I actually make that change happen?? ALIENWARE 18 Laptop

Yes, exactly as you wrote, http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_case_communication_error.php shows how it is possible to acknowledge the problems by clearing the error counter. This way Hard Disk Sentinel will no longer report the problems previously detected and reported by the drive and will notify you only about any future issues. Generally, hard disks record problem(s) occured in their lifetime and these error counters do not clear automatically (for example when you check/replace data cables or connections). These counters can't be physically cleared/removed from the S.M.A.R.T. attribute list of the drive. This is why it is important to use the proper hard disk monitoring software (Hard Disk Sentinel) which offers the ability to perform a way to acknowledge the errors related to the past and manually clear these errors: to be notified only about possible new issues which may really cause performance degradations or even lead to data corruption/data loss.
