So sánh realtek high definition audio với nvidia hd audio

They both do different things. nVidia will be audio over HDMI from you GPU. Realtek will be for the audio ports on your mobo. So install both.

Spoiler

If you want my attention quote my post, or tag me. If you don't use PCPartPicker I will ignore your build.

it's fine to install both but i once had an issue with them and had to disable nvidia's hd audio in device manager to make my audio work again, so there's that lol

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

@Moonzy I've had this problem as well. Since then I always check that thing off the installer.

This is probably off topic but after I troubleshooted my GPU back into a correct resolution, I no longer had any sound coming out of the HDMI port to go to my TV, instead, the front headphone jack is the only way I currently can have any sound at all. So while it might be a good idea to not use nVidia's driver for an all in one cable/feed, I am at a loss as to how to resolve that issue by myself.

Again, I apologies if this isn't on topic but I feel it kind of is as I don't want to have another troubleshoot convoluted nightmare again... or be constantly next to my PC if I want sound...

I recommend not installing the nVidia HDMI audio drivers if you are not going to use it. As others have found, it can cause problems.

Is the nVidia HD audio driver installed? Is your GPU (HDMI) selected as the default output device?

Yes and most definetly Yes! It was just my TV with ir's speakers disabled, believe it or not, that was the "problem"

Well, actually I am using the nVidia HDMI audio. My monitor is connected to it via the HDMI cable. I don't have separate speakers.

Does that mean I should uninstall the motherboard's Realtek driver instead?

I'm so confused.

Would have helped if you mentioned that, huh? Yes, uninstall drivers and disable the on-board audio.

Mm hm. It's always best to have as few drivers installed as possible, as each one you have creates the potential for performance and stability impacts, especially with audio.

Interestingly enough - at one point my 5.1 surround sound wasn't working, I installed nvidia drivers, and then it worked properly after that. Go figure.

I had this problem after i updated NVidia drivers i had no sound from any on-board realtek outputs....the solution is to uninstall the realtek from device manager, after uninstall it will be called HD audio device, then reinstall it and you should have sound from both again.
