According to Dxo, they are pretty close which explains why you might not see a difference. I have the 500D that I just upgraded to the T6s, but I plan on keeping my T1i [500D].

500D has sensor cleaning, 1100D does not. Thats one feature I really miss on my 1100D and really dig on my 80D.

As an owner of the 500D who still uses it on many assignments I suggest you keep the 500D/T1i and sell 1100D.
