In theory, I shouldn’t be into lip oils. I remember getting one from The Saem only because I was writing an article about lip treatments, and there were so many unusual (and seemingly gimmicky) products coming out at the time. But what initially looked like a glorified lip gloss did turn out to be a swell overnight treatment. So here is my third purchase from this lip care category, the I’m Meme I’m Bare Lips Oil (P496 for 2.8g).

Packaging: Portable! The tiny tube is pocket-friendly, yet still easy enough to grip. I love the clear body that shows off that attractive orange color. My only gripe is the size of the included doe foot applicator. The other brands I’ve tried (The Saem and Clarins) feature oversized applicators to properly coat the lips in one go. I have to do 2-3 dips to achieve the same amount. On the other hand, those who don’t like the stickier feel will appreciate the sparing application. But IMHO, they won’t get a full “dose” of the occlusive benefits either.

Experience: Though the consistency appears just as viscous and syrupy as the others, I find the I’m Meme version to be the thinnest out of all I’ve tried. It has a slip to it that makes it feel more like an oil serum on the pout rather than a thinner version of lip gloss. There’s also a mild cool lemon scent that reminds me of Maxx Honey-Lemon Candy. Though the scent doesn’t linger, and there is no flavor. This lip oil does not add color.

Effect: With a thick coating before bed, my lips maintain their moisture level the next morning. The tackiness is also gone by then.

Verdict: Because I like lip oils and can stand their consistency, I still prefer the thicker formulas. This keeps up moisture, but I feel like the other brands do it just a little bit better.
